Course Description

The Shell Lake Arts Center in partnership with Yamaha is proud to present Saxophone Workshop. World renowned saxophonist, Eugene Rousseau leads a team of top performers and gifted educators at the Saxophone Workshop. This program is designed to meet the needs of participants from various backgrounds. Each day is structured to comprise a series of events and classes, including saxophone ensemble, in which all enrolled will play. There will be sessions devoted to saxophone literature, and to the interpretation of music. The performance in class of solos and chamber music is both welcomed and encouraged. In addition, a wide range of materials prepared by the instructors will be given to each person enrolled. Class sessions each day are planned to cover virtually every aspect of saxophone pedagogy, including:

  • Phrasing
  • Reeds and Reed Adjustment
  • Mouthpieces
  • Tuning and Intonation
  • Methods and Materials
  • Repertory
  • Extended Techniques
