Andrew Kirov has been making movies for as long as he can remember. As he was growing up in Northern Wisconsin, he and his friends would spend entire days writing, recording, and editing their own comedy and action films. Andrew attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Media and Theatre. During his time in college, Andrew’s film, The Making of Greatness, was awarded Best Overall Film at the 2010 Babe Stewart Film Festival in Spooner. His original late night talk show, Kirov By Night, was the in-house comedy program of the Duluth Playhouse’s Underground Theater from 2013-2015. He is currently the host and executive producer of the sketch comedy/talk show, Twin Ports Tonight on PBS North. For several years, he worked as a news anchor, reporter, photojournalist, and producer for Fox 21 News in Duluth where he won three first-place Eric Sevareid Awards from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association. Andrew has served as the theatre director at Northwood High School in Minong and has been an instructor at the UW-Superior Summer Theatre Camp. He has worked with the Shell Lake Arts Center since 2013 and has been the film making program instructor since 2017. He’s thrilled to be back at SLAC this summer sharing his love of video production and storytelling with students who share similar interests.
