Film Series – Hugo

February 3 @ 6:30 pm 9:30 pm

Hugo is Martin Scorsese’s delightful answer to his daughter, Francesca‘s, complaint that she could never watch any of his films. Based upon the equally delightful book, the Legend of Hugo Cabret, Hugo is a master class in special effects artistry. Set primarily in Paris‘s Montparnasse train station in the 1930s, the film tells the story of orphan Hugo Cabret, who lives within the walls of the station and maintains the station’s clocks. When he meets the goddaughter of the station’s grumpy toy shop owner, Hugo begins to discover the answers to his troubling past. An avid film buff and historian, Scorsese weaves in loving homage’s to some of the earliest films and their makers, building a compelling case for the importance of film preservation and celebrating of film culture.
