Jason McLean

Jason McLean studied jazz performance and improvisation on bass guitar while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls in 2002. He was employed as a mental health social worker with Washington County, MN for nearly ten years before deciding to follow his deepest passion as a full-time music educator and performer. This experience has enabled Jason to incorporate a therapeutic approach to his teaching method and provide emotional support to students when needed. He has performed and recorded professionally with numerous jazz and rock ensembles; currently with the Tommy Bentz Band in which he recently represented the state of Wisconsin in the 2019 International Blues Challenge. Jason has also toured the UK playing bass guitar several times. He provides instruction for guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele at the Brickhouse Music Lesson Academy in his hometown of River Falls, as well as through his own mobile private studio, and has been a faculty member at the Shell Lake Arts Center since 2010.
