Culinary Services Manager

Position Summary

The Culinary Services Manager oversees all food-related operations for the organization, ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient culinary services for events, programs, rentals, and daily operations.  This role blends leadership, planning, and hands-on kitchen work while supporting the organization’s mission and community values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute food service for events, programs, camps, and rentals
  • Work with leadership to develop menus that align with organizational values, budget, and dietary needs
  • Manage kitchen operations, including food prep, service, and cleanup
  • Along with leadership, order food and supplies; manage inventory and vendor relationships
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health code compliance
  • Create and manage kitchen schedules that reflect both staff and volunteers; supervise and train kitchen staff and volunteers
  • Monitor food costs and assist with budgeting and cost control
  • Ensure kitchen is organized, clean, and operating efficiently
  • Collaborate with program staff, event coordinators, and leadership to meet service needs
  • Assist with special events, fundraising events, and community meals as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in kitchen management, food service leadership, or culinary operations
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices (ServeSafe certification)
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift and carry kitchen equipment and supplies as needed

  • Experience with community kitchens, camps, or event-based food service
  • Experience accommodating dietary restrictions and special diets
