Brian Janz
A native of Wisconsin and long-time visitor/resident of Shell Lake, Brian is Professor Emeritus after spending 30 years in Tennessee teaching and conducting research at The University of Memphis. Prior to that, Brian worked for IBM in the Twin Cities. He did his bachelor’s degree work in electrical/computer engineering at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota, and earned an MBA and Ph.D. from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota. Brian’s personal and professional passion focuses on innovation and empathy-driven, human-centered design, and is looking forward to this passion colliding with his passion for the Shell Lake Arts Center. Brian and his wife Renelle enjoy hiking, biking, and traveling — mostly to visit their 5 children, their spouses/partners, their 6 grandchildren, and 7 grand-dogs!
