Balterdash is Sue Orfield (tenor sax & vocals), Dustin DeGolier (guitars & vocals), John Utphall (keys, fiddle & vocals), and Randy Sinz (basses & vocals)
We take great pride in performing our original songs, mixed in with unique arrangements of carefully selected cover tunes. Our sound is a rich fusion of Bluegrass, Americana, and Celtic influences, creating a vibrant and engaging musical experience that resonates with a wide range of listeners.
Sue Orfield is an award winning tenor saxophonist, composer and educator who tours internationally and has recorded on hundreds of albums. She makes her home in the Chippewa Valley of Wisconsin. Over the years Sue has shared the stage with many musical greats, among them Bo Diddley, Bobby McFerrin, The Indigo Girls, Ann Wilson (Heart), Dizzy Gillespie, Ivan Neville, and Jo Dee Messina.
Dustin DeGolier is a freelance musician serving Northwest Wisconsin. A native of Cumberland, WI, Dustin maintains a frequent performance schedule both solo and with a wide array of groups playing jazz, rock, Americana, blues and more.
John Utphall has been playing the keys since age 6, has been performing live in the area since 1977, and is a master performer on the violin. He currently plays dozens of shows a year in numerous bands and has shared the stage with music heroes Randy Sabine, Jeff Becker, George Strait, Clyde Stubblefield, Big Al Downing, & Hank Thompson.
Randy Sinz has been a staple of the Chippewa Valley Music scene since he was 12 years old, playing in his father’s band and countless bands in Western Wisconsin. He was a touring musician in his younger years, and recently recorded an album in Nashville entitled “This One’s For You Dad”.
