Board of Directors
Fred Johnson
Fred Johnson joined the board of directors in July of 2023. He currently serves as co-chair of the Capital Campaign Committee and chair of the Internal Affairs and Operations Committee. Fred has a Bachelor of Social Work from UW-Eau Claire and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from UW-Stout. He spent over 30 years in the health and human services field working as a social worker, supervisor, and agency director. Fred also worked for several years as a carpenter while attending graduate school, and the ability to measure twice and cut once is what reconnected him with the Center when there was work to be done on the lodges. Fred and his wife Megan are both 1981 graduates of Shell Lake High School, and after retirement, returned to make this community home once again. When not in Shell Lake, there is a good chance Fred and Megan are visiting family in Denver, Colorado (two daughters, son-in-law and granddaughter). Fred has enjoyed several silent sports for many years and after a 50 year break, has started taking piano lessons again.
