Camp Counselor

Position Title: Camp Counselor-June 3-June 27 AND July 5-August 8, 2026.
Location: Shell Lake Arts Center, located in Northwestern Wisconsin

SLAC is looking for leaders with a passion for the arts who wish to assist younger students with their artistic endeavors. Your day involves coordinating camp activities and acting as a positive role model for campers. We seek team players, go-getters, and inspiring personalities. As a counselor, you support the work of our faculty; this is a great opportunity to observe and assist some of the very best educators in their artistic fields. Responsibilities:
- Monitor the health, welfare and safety of students attending the Center throughout the summer.
- Assist Camp Coordinator with recreational activities for campers to participate in during free times.
- Provide basic first aid and transport campers to medical facilities if needed (training will be provided).
- Assist with student registration and orientation.
- Participate in camp operations projects that may include sound technician, office assistant, community outreach, music librarian, and other projects that will be determined based on the needs of the camp.
- Transport campers to and from airport as needed.
- Secure campus at the end of the day.
- Adapt to the changing needs of the camper, fellow counselors, faculty, and staff.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the Camp Coordinator, Program Director, or Executive Director. These duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Performance set-up
- Facility clean-up
- Equipment transportation
Qualifications:
- Must have completed at least one year of college – two years preferred.
- Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of employees, campers, and faculty.
- Have a proven interest in the arts – education majors are highly encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience working with middle high and high school students in a supervisory or camp setting is preferred.
- Must be positive, dependable, energetic, and self-motivated with an emphasis on teamwork.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Lifeguard certification is a plus!
- Candidates must submit to a background check.
Salary: Salary Range between $360 and $390/week, commensurate with experience. Room and Board is included.
