Mary Rossing
Mary Rossing has lived in Spooner with her partner Joel Walinski since the summer of 2023. They moved back to the Midwest from the mountains of Washington State where she owned and operated a cut-flower farm, and worked as Retail Manager for a non-profit organization. She has served on various nonprofit boards over her career, including her local Chamber of
Commerce, and served as Board chair of a downtown development organization, a local historical society and served a term of Mayor all in her hometown of Northfield, Minnesota. Mary has always been involved with the arts, primarily music and visual art. A studio art major from St. Olaf College, she also sang in the St. Olaf Choir, which gave her the opportunity to sing
at many great performing venues, including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Her varied visual art career has included numerous gallery shows, work as a book and print illustrator, theater set designer, retail store design and management, and merchandizing work in national showrooms for the gift industry. She ran her own retail business for 15 years and worked as
Program Manager and Gallery Director for an art center. She comes from a very musical family and looks forward to being part of making high quality arts experiences available to the next generation through her service for the Shell Lake Arts Center.
