Travis Christopherson

Travis began as executive director at the Shell Lake Arts Center in April of 2024 after roughly 28 years supporting midwestern schools as an educational representative and store manager for Schmitt Music.  He is an active guitarist, vocalist and trombonist in the Eau Claire, WI area and has opened for artists such as Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt and JoDee Messina.  He was a staff trombone faculty member with the Clark Terry Big Bad Jazz Camp for two summers in the early 1990’s and performed with many legendary jazz artists from the Count Basie and Duke Ellington bands.

Travis was a camp counselor at the Shell Lake Arts Center in the late 1980’s and was a jazz trombone teaching assistant with the Birch Creek Music Performance Center for two years in the mid-1990’s.   He holds a BS in Music Performance from UW-La Crosse with additional masters work in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Northern Iowa.
